Season 10, Episode 19, ’Mom and Pop Art’ of The Simpsons is processed through vectorization tools, then various alignments are applied to the resulting shapes (e.g. Align Left, Distribute Centered), & finally the audio is manipulated ways that are similar to the alignments.
The project is intended as a nine screen video installation (below). Cycles through 23 videos. Looks at the absurdity of digital tools in manipulating media. The Simpsons are the quintessential post-modern animation sitcom. Use of Jasper Johns as a thief of culture, himself using layers of iconic symbols. The work looks to break apart and regurgitate the single episode devoted to the subject of art.
